I guess it's true that spinning is the new black! One by one the knitters I know are falling prey to its spell. On Friday it was Jewel--after a nice afternoon of spinning, she went home with some new skills and my sweet old Ashford. The very one Rachael learned on. When Jewel succumbs and buys her own wheel (as we all know she will do eventually), I wonder who will be next?
The Bay Area of California, at least the part I live in, has a very moderate climate, influenced by the air blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. I grew up in that kind of climate, and as a result must characterize myself as a delicate flower: I don't tolerate heat or humidity very well. So it is a testament to the pull of fiber that I would venture east into the hot center of California to spend time at the Dixon Lambtown fiber fair yesterday. But it was worth it! Below, you see the most-photographed denizen of the vendor area:

My fascination goes back many years, to the wondrous Christmas morning when we found a model farm under the tree....

oh the model farm! i recently inherited my grandfather's old collection of model farm animals. he was a terrible hoarder. there is a wonderful, miniscule, swan, smaller than my smallest fingernail. is that model farm knitted?

ooh i went to lambtown too! I had a lot of fun. We stayed only for the morning since it started to get too hot for us after lunch!
