We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life,
when all that we need to be really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.
~ Charles Kingsley
A few days ago two big, long-awaited boxes arrived on my porch: they were filled with new colors of Jamieson's Spindrift Shetland jumperweight yarn! Twenty-two new colors, to be exact. (One more, Sherbet, is still backordered.)
Last year Jamieson's added lovely blues and yellow-oranges. This year we have--oh, hallelujah!--two gorgeous blue-violets. Some much needed clear grays. Longed for clear oranges in three different values. Lovely greens. Beautiful grayed blues. Some new deep browns. A glorious tweedy blue-red...
I wasn't quite able to capture the colors over the weekend, but I'll keep trying. Here's the list:
162 Neptune
243 Storm
246 Wren (don't you just want this one for the name alone?)
252 Birch
308 Tangerine
315 Heron
319 Artichoke
435 Apricot
470 Pumpkin
517 Mantilla
547 Damask
628 Parma
629 Lupin
630 Dove
633 Jupiter
640 Stonehenge
665 Bluebell
722 Mirage
790 Celtic
812 Prairie
868 Leather
890 Mocha
The new Jamieson's Color Cards ($23 postage included) contain these new colors. But if you are a color addict looking to complete your collection I'm offering a special through August 31st 2010: Buy all 22 for $100 plus actual shipping (a $23 savings)--sorry, the Sherbet is not included in this offer.
Email me at janine DOT bajus AT sbcglobal DOT net. (And yes, the website is progressing nicely but I've never been one to hurry a lot--after all, I love Fair Isle knitting, don't I? But until then I'm handling things the old-fashioned way: through email and PayPal.)
I have to tear myself away, however--Meg Swansen's Knitting Camp in Wisconsin beckons! What to pack, what to pack... the anxiety of the travelling knitter. I think a sweet little February Baby Sweater in three shades of Spindrift will keep me occupied. I promise pictures!

Sorry if I got drool on your post... but, YUM!

Buy a ball of each of the 22 new colors for $100, is that what you meant? For some reason I at first(mis)understood you as meaning that the whole collection of colorcards would cost $100. "Wow", I thought, "that's a lot of money to spend on colorcards. Think of the yarn I could buy with $100. . ."
