The kitchen and the office, they are done! Last week was total chaos, as the carpenter and the painter and the contractor and the washer/dryer installers jockeyed for space, and the haulers waited in the wings to remove the pile of construction debris.
And despite my cynical beliefs that this remodel would NEVER be done, it was, indeed, done by the end of Friday. My birthday, as it happens, and a better birthday gift I could not imagine.
Bookshelves in the island, and some "interesting" perspectives
The office/middle bedroom/studio is done, too! This room demonstrates unrestrained color use, that's for sure....
Another birthday gift: My sister Tori arrived to help. She dusted and moved furniture and shopped for needed stuff with me and helped empty the U-Haul pod and put away the stuff that had been stored for the last 5 months (and helped box up the stuff that I realized we did not really need after all!).
It has taken a surprising amount of time to get things squared away. In fact, the stuff in the kitchen has been stuffed into the cabinets willy-nilly and will require attention at a later date. We've got lots of pictures to hang.
For now? We celebrate.
